Don Conyac has been a firefighter for 37 years. He first worked for the Rocky Flats Fire department for 15 years, and the City of Boulder Fire-Rescue for the last 22 years. For the duration of 32 years, Don has worked as a front-line responding firefighter, engineer, and a Lieutenant. The last 5 years he has spent as a Lieutenant in the Community Risk Reduction Division as a Fire Inspector and Fire Investigator. Due to his years of first-hand experience, Don holds a deep understanding of how municipal governments work.
Over his career, Don has received several awards, most notable of which is when he received Boulder Fire Rescue's first Medal of Valor award in 2009.
Don and his wife are also one of the four original founders of the St. Vrain Christmas walk. The walk is an annual event that brings the community together and just finished its seventh year celebrating. The mile long path averages 10,000 visitors during the month of December. This year 77 of the 90 houses lit up for the walk, this speaks volumes of the character of the people in Firestone. The event is also run by a group of volunteers who give out free hot chocolate and cookies for the kids.
